HOW DOES ELOS PERMANENT HAIR REDUCTION WORK?
Elos uses a combination of two energies, an intense pulsed light and a bi-polar radio frequency, to damage the hair follicle. This disables the follicle from growing hair, which means that over a course of treatments, there is a permanent reduction in the amount of hair in that area. The number of treatments required depends on the treatment area, skin type, hair colour and how well you can keep up with your treatment schedule. Permanent Hair Reduction aims to achieve a 70 - 90% reduction over the course of treatments.

WHAT IS THE ADVANTAGE OF THE ELOS SYSTEM?
Elos can treat all hair colours and all skin types. Elos has been CLINICALLY PROVEN to be THE safest and most effective system at treating ALL hair colours and ALL skin types.

Standard IPL and Laser systems rely on the melanin (colour or pigment in hair) in hair to attract the light and travel down the hair shaft to damage the papilla so it cannot grow another hair again.

Quality IPL and Laser systems can be very good at treating dark hair on light skin. However, light hair and darker skin types result in safety and results being compromised with standard IPL and Laser systems, as there is less colour in the hair to attract the light, therefore becoming less effective, and when more melanin, or colour, is present in the skin, the light cannot differentiate between hair and skin melanin, this can cause burning, blistering, discolouration and, at very least, poor results.

HOW EFFECTIVE ARE ELOS TREATMENTS?
A study which included skin types II-V showed UP TO 42% clearance 3 months after ONE treatment. Post treatment hair loss occurs around 2-3 weeks.

ARE ELOS TREATMENTS SAFE?
Treatment is very safe for the skin. There are many advances in Elos technology that make it one of the safest permanent hair reduction systems available for all skin colors. There are no long term health hazards from the energies used in elos. Both optical and radio frequency have been used for decades in medicine, surgery and aesthetics without adversity.

WHAT DOES A TREATMENT FEEL LIKE?
Most of our customers describe the treatment as a warm rubber band sensation, about 1/4 of the pain of waxing, and for those that have experienced IPL and Laser most have said it is significantly more comfortable. Everyone does have different pain thresholds and depending on the area of treatment, the level of uncomfortableness varies.

Our experience is that our treatments are easily tollerated.

WHAT RESULTS CAN I EXPECT?
Each treatment will result in a reduction in hair of up to 30%. Hair also becomes finer and slower-growing with each treatment. It takes more than 1 treatment to affect all the follicles growing in an area due to the different stages of hair growth every individual experiences. Most people achieve satisfactory clearance after 6-8 treatments, but individual results vary depending on medical and genetic factors. For example, lighter colored hair generally require more treatments than darker colored hair and darker coloured skin generally requires more treatment than lighter coloured skin.

HOW FREQUENT ARE TREATMENTS SCHEDULED?
The treatments are performed every 4-6 weeks depending on the are being treated.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT POST TREATMENT?
Temporary pinkness in the skin lasts a very short time, and most people return to work or normal activities immediately after each treatment. Hair starts to fall out over the next 2-4 weeks, once a treated hair has fallen out it does not grow back. Hair re-growth of remaining hair becomes slower and slower post each treatment.

WHY DO I NEED A COURSE OF TREATMENTS?
There are three stages of hair growth, resting, growing and mature. In order to conduct enough light and energy down to the papilla to stop it from being able to nourish another hair, the hair needs to be attached to the papilla, this is the mature stage of hair growht. On average, up to 30% of hair is in the mature stage at any given time (this does vary from individual and treatment area).

WHO IS SUITABLE FOR ELOS PERMANENT HAIR REDUCTION TREATMENTS?
Elos is fantastic at treating excess hair and in-grown hairs. Males with back hair, ladies with facial hair, ladies wanting beach ready bikini lines all year round! Anyone who wants a permanent solution to shaving, waxing, plucking, or electrolysis.

WHO IS NOT SUITABLE?
There are few medical conditions that contraindicate people from treatment, such as pregnancy, epilepsy and photosensitive medication, please call our clinic for more information.

WHAT IS THE AVERAGE NUMBER OF TREATMENTS REQUIRED?
Some people are lucky and only require four treatments, however this is not common and we do recomend a minimum of 6 treatments to ensure sufficient damage of your papillas and long term results.

The average number of treatments on light skin and dark hair is 8. Men’s backs and chests, facial hair and hormonal hair take more than the average number of treatments, as does darker skin types.
